University Hospital of Lausanne Vaudois

Vaudois University Hospital Center (CHUV) is one of the 5 university clinics in Switzerland and is among the top ten in the world according to Newsweek magazine for 2019. Through collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne, CHUV plays a leading European role in the field of medical care, medical research and education. The clinic employs 11,364 employees from 107 nationalities, 69% of whom are women. CHUV Medical services serve more than 45,000 patients per year. Every year, almost 3,000 babies are born in the obstetric department.

The clinic plays a leading role at the Swiss, European and even international level. CHUV provides treatment in all medical specialties, including psychiatry. The Vaudois University Hospital Center meets the needs of the population of the Lausanne agglomeration as a first aid hospital and is also the reference hospital of the canton. Patients from most of French-speaking Switzerland who need specialized and ultra-specialized care receive it here.

As a university hospital, CHUV participates in pre- and post-graduate training for doctors, caregivers and other healthcare professionals and participates in clinical, translational and basic research in priority collaboration with UNIL and its Faculty of Biology and Medicine. CHUV is also developing research partnerships with EPFL, Hautes Ecoles, Swiss research institutes and other international organizations.
