Editorial Policy

Discover our editorial values, writing approach, and dedication to our readers.

At SwissMedExpert, your health and the wellbeing of your loved ones matter deeply to us. As a leading international medical assistance provider, we strive to offer clear, trustworthy, and practical information on a wide range of health topics — from common conditions to the more complex — to help guide your decisions and support conversations with your doctor.

Our articles are grounded in up-to-date medical research and best practices. They're intended to support — not replace — the advice and care you receive from healthcare professionals. While we may reference general treatment information, our goal isn’t to promote any specific clinic or service. Instead, we focus on providing educational content that helps you make informed choices.
OUR VOICE

Since 2011, we’ve been facilitating access to world-class care by connecting patients with over 70 Swiss clinics and 350 renowned professors, physicians, and specialists. We work closely with a trusted network of more than 1,000 professionals, including doctors, nurses, and therapists.

We’re surrounded by experts, and we take pride in translating complex medical knowledge into clear, compassionate language. Think of us as the informed friend who also happens to know what they’re talking about — someone who explains things simply, answers your questions, and helps you feel confident in your understanding.

We communicate directly and conversationally. We use everyday language because health education should feel approachable, not intimidating. You might come across phrases like “pee,” “kids,” or “snot” — because that’s how real people talk. And we’re okay with that. We even have our own editorial style guide to ensure our content reflects the care, clarity, and empathy we believe every reader deserves.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

At SwissMedExpert, we believe healthcare information should always do good — never harm. The way we use language matters. It can encourage and empower, or it can alienate and stigmatize. That’s why we use inclusive, respectful, person-first language that honors your identity, not just your condition.

We strive to use terminology that reflects current best practices in medical communication. Sometimes that means using person-first language (“a person living with…”), and sometimes it means using identity-first language (“autistic person”) when we know it's preferred by the community.

Language is always evolving, and so are we. Our editorial guidelines are reviewed regularly to make sure we stay accurate, relevant, and inclusive.
Our Sources: Reliable, Researched, Reviewed

We base every article on authoritative sources, such as:

  • Peer-reviewed medical journal studies
  • Standard medical textbooks
  • Information from globally respected health organizations (like WHO, CDC, and others)
All content is reviewed by clinical professionals to ensure it’s fact-checked, current, and medically reliable.

  • You can view source materials at the bottom of each article — just look for the “References” section after the medical review date.
Medical Review Is Built In

Each article is reviewed by a licensed medical expert with experience in the topic being discussed. Our medical reviewers work hand-in-hand with our editors to ensure clarity, accuracy, and medical integrity. After publication, articles are revisited and re-reviewed periodically — especially when medical recommendations or standards change.
Editorial Process

All of our content is created by experienced writers — journalists, medical communicators, and academics — who are passionate about health literacy. They research thoroughly and cite credible sources to ensure every article is evidence-based and trustworthy.

Writers may consult with experts, reference clinical guidelines, or incorporate insights from our medical partners. Every piece is reviewed for medical accuracy and then edited for clarity and readability before it goes live.

You’ll always find a date on our articles. That way, you know when the information was last updated — because healthcare knowledge is always growing.

If you ever spot something that doesn’t feel right, please let us know at info@swissmedexpert.eu we are also people after all.
