Schulthess Klinik

Schulthess Klinik has been supported by the non-profit Wilhelm Schulthess Foundation since 1935. People, their mobility and quality of life are at the heart of the clinic's daily work. All staff devote all their efforts to ensure that patients receive the best possible care and ensure their rapid recovery.

The clinic has come a long way and has achieved tremendous technological progress since the founding of Wilhelm Schultess to today's center of excellence.

Wilhelm Schultess (1855-1917), internist, pediatrician and general practitioner, quickly specialized in orthopedics. In 1883, he joined forces with his surgical partner, Dr. August Leuning, to found the "Orthopedic Institute" on Lowenstrasse in Zurich. Schultess was also the co-founder and first chief physician of the Balgrist Hospital, which opened in 1912.

In 1985, the Department of Health of the Canton of Zurich provided the Wilhelm Schultes Foundation with land for construction in the Lengghald. Since 1995, the Schulthess Klinik Clinic has been housed in ultra-modern buildings between Balgrist and Burghelzli in the Lengghald on the outskirts of Zurich. In the summer of 2006, a new wing was built to meet the needs associated with the ever-increasing number of operations and medical procedures provided.

Today, the Schulthess Klinik Clinic performs about 12,000 musculoskeletal surgeries and medical procedures annually. The clinic also has a research department and a training status of "A" in orthopedic surgery and "B" in hand surgery. The clinic has also been designated a Swiss Olympic Medical Center.

Whether they are the best athletes, amateur athletes or those who return to the sport, people involved in sports in all categories of achievements are provided with comprehensive support. The goal is to achieve maximum performance. After a well-founded diagnosis, each patient receives an individual treatment plan.

The Schulthess Clinic has departments of sports medicine, performance diagnostics and sports physiotherapy. In addition, the specialists of the sports departments maintain direct cooperation with other highly specialized departments of the clinic.
